Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst Launches Cyberstart Canada for High School Girls

The Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst in Downtown Brampton is Toronto Metropolitan University’s national centre for training, innovation and collaboration in cybersecurity.

The Catalyst recently launched Cyberstart Canada, a youth-focused learning experience that uses gamification to improve cyber-related knowledge and skills, and increase interest in cybersecurity careers among girls and young women. Participants gain access to cyber career talks, workshops and other engagement activities.

Charles Finlay ,Founding Executive Director of the Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst says that “Canada is facing an immense talent gap when it comes to the cybersecurity sector–across the country, there are over 25,000 unfilled cyber roles.”

The Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst is supported in part by the City of Brampton. The Catalyst drives Canada’s global competitiveness in cybersecurity, including the recently launched national cybersecurity accelerator. Soon to come is the first of its kind cyber range where cyber attacks can be simulated, addressed and new products developed and tested.
