A message from Rowena
I’ve listened to your concerns, fought for our neighbourhoods, and delivered results from safer streets and stronger by-law enforcement to historic investments in health care, transit, parks and recreation.
My priorities: safe streets, better health care, faster commutes, safe and affordable housing, and responsible spending.
Rowena Santosfor City Councillor, Brampton Wards 1 & 5
Safety on Your Street
We added 500+ Peel Police officers to improve response times, made Brampton a leader in reducing auto theft, improved road safety, built the Century Gardens Youth Hub to help keep kids safe, tackled intimate partner violence, and prioritized removal of encampments while advocating for more appropriate solutions.
The Next Four Years
Faster police response to break-ins and suspicious activity, more traffic calming where you’ve asked, and targeted enforcement on repeat offenders.
Better Health
We helped bring a medical school to Brampton, expanded primary care access through an integrated health care centre serving 14,000 people, committed funding to our second hospital, and invested in parks and recreation.
The Next Four Years
Open the second hospital and cancer care centre, build the Embleton Recreation Centre, and plan for a third hospital.
Faster Commutes
We secured $2.8 billion for the tunnelled Hazel McCallion LRT, advanced Queen Street rapid transit, and improved traffic flow with smarter signals.
The Next Four Years
Build the downtown LRT and Queen St. BRT, expand smart traffic signals, get more two-way GO service and support active transportation initiatives.
Value for Tax Dollars
Municipalities are facing rising costs and increased demands on services. We’ve worked to keep tax increases below inflation, protect the services residents rely on, and secure provincial and federal funding to reduce pressure on local taxpayers.
The Next Four Years
Continue to find savings before asking you to pay more, fight for Brampton’s fair share of provincial and federal funding, and ensure every dollar spent returns real value.
Neighbourhood Pride
I fought to bring Residential Rental Licensing to Brampton, strengthen by-law enforcement, and more funding for neighbourhood associations. When neighbours know and support each other, communities are stronger and safer.
The Next Four Years
Target by-law enforcement on repeat offenders, adopt proven fixes for the toughest properties, resolve concerns faster and enhance support for neighbourhood groups.
Homes
Riverwalk flood protection unlocks 13,000 new homes and will revitalize downtown Brampton. We’ve also delivered 177 long-term care beds, 198 affordable seniors’ units, supportive housing at Birch Place, and partnered with non-profits to create more affordable homes.
The Next Four Years
Push for more housing that families, seniors, and young adults can afford, and keep revitalizing downtown while protecting the character of our neighbourhoods.
Good Jobs
Businesses now invest in Brampton. Employers like Canon, MDA, Lululemon, and so many more have chosen Brampton. I’ve also supported local businesses, attracted new investment, and expanded co-op placements and summer jobs to help young people take their first steps toward a career close to home.
The Next Four Years
Attract better-paying employers, keep backing local businesses that give our neighbourhoods their character, and support economic development to diversify our property tax base.
